Asian Tapas Summary

January 8th, 2010 No comments

In the latest review from the Santa Fe Reporter, Zane Fischer writes:

Asian tapas, crime and pleasure: a love story

To hell with the breakfast burrito—I want breakfast soup from now on.
I know, I know: sacrilege.

But the congee at Mu Du Noodles’ Sunday brunch is sumptuous enough to make me lie in print about giving up the tortilla-wrapped goodness for good. It’s like a plate of migas crashed into a bowl of miso in a display case full of fine spices and landed in a gift basket of Asian delicacies.

I’ve given serious thought to kidnapping chef and owner Mu Jing Lau and holding her in a dark basement somewhere until she coughs up the recipe. On the one hand, turning to crime seems excessive. On the other hand, I can’t be waiting around for

11 am on Sundays for more congee.

Summer Update

August 5th, 2009 No comments

An update to what’s happening at MDN.

* We won Best Ethnic Restaurant in All Types of Cuisines for 2009 in the Reporter. We also won (2nd place) in Best Restaurant for Vegetarians. Thank you to all our loyal customers. We try very hard and it’s great to be acknowledged.

* Our Sunday brunch is doing very well!! Customers have been given very positive feedback. Mu is loving the whole thing and thinks that there is a bright future for her concept. For those not in the know…. It’s Asian Tapas Served Dim Sum Style ……. ATSDSS. Small plates of food, from all over the world, especially from Asian but not limited to that continent, are presented on trays for the customers to pick and choose. It’s great fun and exciting to come see and taste the favorite old and new offerings every Sunday. Some examples: Aloo Gobi with Dosa (Indian Hash and Flatbread), Okamayaki (Japanese Pizza), Congee (Chinese Breakfast Soup), Chinese Donuts, Small Bento Boxes, Chinese Baos (Stuffed Buns), Vegetarian Samosas, Market Fresh Vegetables (4 types of Greens with 4 Types of Dals), International Salads, Jae Chap (Korean Sweet Potato Salad), Beef Randeng with Coconut Rice, Miso Eggplant, Grilled Thai Corn, Grilled Portugese Sardines. Malay Lamb Satay, Balinese Meataballs, and much more. We have between 15 – 20 items to choose from every Sunday, and Mu rotates in many new dishes as well. Come and experience a new and exciting concept for your taste buds!!!

Mu Du Brunch

April 30th, 2009 No comments

Tired of the same old brunch offerings? Come to MuDu for something different and fun!! Different in the dishes offered, the method of serving the food, to the method that we tally your bill!! It will be the same great quality and integrity of ingredients….but different. Remember that Mu always has your health in mind with her offerings of delicious and soul satisfying food!!

Starting May 3rd, we will begin our Sunday Brunch, offering healthy, new and exciting small plates.  We will be open from 11:00 – 2:00. The plates will be presented in a “dim sum” manner. There will be some “dim sum” (dumplings) dishes, but some of the offerings will be more “pub-ish” (smaller entrees) in nature. We will pull from all over the world, nothing is off limits. If there is something special at the Farmer’s Market, we will include that as well. The cooks will have a great opportunity to show their stuff without the normal constraints. This should be a great deal of fun and a great experience for all. We are also planning on having guest chefs/cooks to spice up our offerings in the future. Reservations is strongly suggested.

As this concept evolves, we will incorporate a Salon featuring lectures and discussions on interesting, important and timely topics. This is slated to start in June after the brunch hour. If all goes well, a light Sunday supper may be added later in the year.  Stay posted.

This idea came out of Mu’s desire to create a space that encourages the exchange of ideas as well as food, and ultimately strengthen our connection to each other.

In the latest review from Albuquerque’s Local IQ, Kevin Hopper writes:

“Santa Fe pan-Asian restaurant holds individual ingredients to a higher standard

My mother’s name is Patricia, not Judith. So why do I feel like my mom was waiting on my table at Mu Du Noodles the other night?
“Here are some pea shoots,” said a woman named Judith said to me and my two faithful dining companions shortly after ordering appetizers at this regaled Santa Fe eatery, which has long been on my list of “must eat” restos in that city. read more…
